Meisel Gallery, the artist is currently the subject of his first solo museum exhibition, “Beyond Reality: Paintings and Drawings by Bertrand Meniel ,” at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill, New York, on view through April 6, 2025. BERTRAND MENIEL: Paintings, 1996-2024

The Artist Book Foundation

The Artist Book Foundation (TABF) is pleased to announce the release of BERTRAND MENIEL: Paintings, 1996–2024, a comprehensive new monograph celebrating the extraordinary works of Bertrand Meniel, a self-taught French artist who has mastered the intricate genre of Photorealism.

Meniel has embraced digital photographic technology in a way no other Photorealist has, bringing remarkable precision and stunning depth to his paintings. By combining hundreds of digital images to perfect his compositions, Meniel’s paintings are infused with a level of detail that is unparalleled. Despite working with fast-drying acrylic paints, Meniel captures every nuance of the cityscapes he so beautifully portrays—New York, Miami, and Paris to name a few—that come to life on his canvases with a clarity and realism that transcends the boundaries of the medium.

BERTRAND MENIEL: Paintings, 1996–2024 features a foreword by American author and proponent of the Photorealist art movement, Louis K. Meisel, as well as essays by Otto Letze, director emeritus of the Institute for Cultural Exchange in Tübingen, Germany, and independent curator, cultural consultant, and Principal Museum Strategist for Art Museum Strategies at Hudson Ferris, Terrie Sultan. The monograph illuminates Meniel’s artistic process and evolution, his interest in American culture, and the intricate techniques that have made him one of the most technically proficient Photorealist painters of our time. Through this detailed exploration, readers are invited to discover Meniel’s exceptional ability to capture the essence of urban life.
